26/06/2010 The first lesson: folding canoe warms three times!
The eighteenth of June followed inevitably the Nineteenth! This banal information has so far their charm, and I therefore had a Saturday in front of me, where I could test drive the Canadians.
However, I needed a whole extra week, until a suitable opportunity arose. I went to Biebrich parked directly in front of the castle, seized boat, boat trailer, canoe, tent, sleeping bag and water and made my way to nearby Rhine. As practically gifted theorist, I wanted to embarrass me by the first public build of the boat is not too much. Therefore, I began first in the dark, spread the parts on the floor and then sorted in almost any way to plug in the hull. Meanwhile, a GI was talking to me about Faltkanus approached and when he had crept from thence, three Indians. This seemed to understand a lot of boat building. At least she commented in long discussions every single one of my handles.
OK, as a former film-goers I had to remind myself: is it for night work up to 50% surcharge. So it was more than fitting that I totally sweaty after 75 minutes the boat had done. At least almost. For somehow was still around one of these many efforts and I had to realize that this only be the keel strut konnte.Eine Fifteen minutes later the boat was completely assembled and pre-trip on the Rhine. Quick still used the lamp, and off we went. With a surge of Indian Worst Disbelief about the swimming ability of this boat I left the safe shore and began with my maiden voyage ..
moved slowly and dark the piling of the place by me, while I struggled up the river towards the east tip of Rettbergsau. After two hours I felt had mastered the apex of the track and then drove very gently splashing down between Rettbergsau Mombacher and the bank of the Rhine. The Antrengung the ascent I had heated up properly. The more I now enjoyed the fresh air that made me abkühlte.Dieses boat very well. The rest of the soft, flexible trunk but could not offset against the calls for break, which I with increasing frequency received from my brain. Half an hour after midnight, I landed at the campsite at the Rettbergsau unnoticed. No rattling and no further sounds, when I ran aground on the sand. Right next to a group of people in the torchlight on the beach celebrating birthday. I gently pulled the canoe with my belongings on the transport car to the island interior. There, I set up my tent and slept about six hours. Before breakfast I wanted a little paddle, went quite early so the Rhine back up to the Biebricher Rettbergsau. There I realized that I missed for breakfast, two important things: The stove and the food. Well, in the car things were quite safe. After I regained my energy through a two-hour sun-worship, I went back to Biebrich, got the car, sweating, dismantled the boat and was sometime around ten clock in the morning back home.
