Season Greetings Texty

petition for boating in the Danube valley rain clouds

is (click on the yellow text!) Generally prompted this petition to sign.
I've done on weekends - until Thursday (03.03.) It is still possible.
Whether even a chance of success depends very much on the sum of those who sign it.
Addendum: Sunday we want to paddle the route in question probably.

Watch Jamie's American Road Trip

I have the "The FTF Addict" get Sapphire Badge!

Today I once again generated my stats because I have now found each day in February (up to 29 ) a geocache. Incidentally, I noticed, that my badges have changed slightly:

I am now the proud owner of the Sapphire badges category " The FTF Addict " . This Badge is obtained once you have made 300 FTFs . That's a pretty big number, right?

The next steps are the way 600 (Emerald) and 1000 FTFs (diamond). I'm curious to see if I still reach - who knows if we stay the more notorious students ?

The rain was announced. Should begin yesterday evening. Therefore, in the white water board already convened a jubilant and navigation of the Lower Enz, which I nearly connected. But the rain was coming, the level was not moving and the journey from Tübingen to Pforzheim but just takes a full hour. I once again called off.

But I was then in the afternoon Jürgen asked in wonder why I'm sitting at the computer on weekends and do not paddle. The question I was very justified because the rain had still not deployed. So I went at least to a small Neckar round (under threatening rain clouds). I transferred the upper weir, stalked to high for the second defense, I wondered a bit about the tree work on the bank (after all, they cut away only part way everything Ratzeputz and allow time to time are 10/20 willows) and toured the flood damage at the restoration measure the year before last. The newly dug channel silted up there, makes me not a bit surprised.

Congratulations Messages On Marrrage

planning for the vacations, or: A Story of Power and sock puppets

met while ago I almost beat when I saw snow the many emails to the mailbox:

A number of caches that are manifestly in Butjadingen - which is only a stone's throw from my Hometown Bremerhaven away. I'll be first in the Windows Live Messenger (aka MSN) went offline because of this really annoying and completely overloaded Messenger informed me loudly about any new email - after 10 Popup allowed me, as I said, served . But after 20 doses was first break. Nanu? fortwo had no desire more?

I Meanwhile, time had a cache of open and look, because I noticed that he was disabled:

And it was not an isolated case. All caches of the series were directly disabled, I am assuming that the other publishers had set fortwo why.

on the map you can see all right, where the entire series will run once a long . But who is this show about? Since I often cache in the area, I thought that I have a Power Trail-Leger know but really should - I am doing well, I just did not initially . Somehow I seem to be the only one who did not come by itself on it, but actually it's totally obvious: It is a kind of sock puppet (I tell you not only what ). 13 findings, filed for ever, yet no down and then throw at least 76 doses in the landscape? Sounds to me just for a beginner who could not wait to rauszuhauen a Power Trail, so that his mailbox is View active with millions Found logs - but you can also so see that a "real" Cacher (correct in the sense of regularly cachend) one has created extra account to log in to the mega-power trail itself - and I habs no checking of self and first had to be pushed in the direction of thinking. This is, of course, refined ... I would personally rather sharply to 150 caches hidden, because those are exactly the set that gives a the Sapphire badge for "The cache owner" :

Furthermore, it is the caching Karma Power Trail course at a really high, so many discoveries that draws such a series with you at all. And so we are already within Disadvantage of the series (I think): Many of the points-addicted Cacher! I'm not quite sure how the roads look along the dyke, however I have been more had the experience that this is to "residents only" roads or bicycle and pedestrian concerns. Therefore, I have the uncomfortable feeling that such an immense Power Trail will attract enough lazy ones who handle these prohibitions . I can not deny that I myself now and then as a farmer or forester declare to find a cache . But if this is done on a distance of many miles of many cachers who are crying like residents and possibly even police officers on the scene . The sending you would harm the Geocacher-calls, only to make trouble will be archived until the can at some point because there is no other way out .

I certainly hope not, that it comes so far, but somehow I'm more a realist than an optimist (as this will be less disappointed ) and can only hope that the way to the far north all the lazy ones point collectors is just too far (or that there may be enough barriers and bollards )! Since in northern Germany still trails are many more power, the chances are perhaps not so low that it really does not draw a cache tourist tower after himself. Or should I all positive view and use the argument that tourists might even make the cans for a holiday in Butjadingen and money in the coffers to bring ? I really do not know exactly what to make of it. All in all, the doses are probably in a few weeks, so wait for the rush is still possible.

I'm curious if they are released, when I at home (say, in Bremerhaven) as well, because then I will probably burn some calories and make a nice 70 km bike ride through Butjadingen (Thanks Weserfähre Blexen-Bremerhaven ) - keep your fingers crossed that the weather .

Feeling Dizzy After Getting Down From A Treadmill

18.02. - 20:02:11 With Tarp teepee but without the 3rd Winter Tipi camp

The ice of the dirt road gleams black in the snow while I was at the Wintertipilager Kreutzen / Munster further. Even from the parking lot, I can see through the snowy forest the glow of bonfires to have gathered in the hooded men, moving in the cold, hard, while in the background, the frozen steam of their breath with the smoke of a Zeltöfen misty white haze formed.

way I had imagined over the last six months, the scenario and really looking forward to this experience. But then it was really warm in early February. The air warmed himself up to fifteen degrees, and soon after days of rain ruined my hopes for a nice, dry storage atmosphere. My disappointment was great. What to do? Tent with a floor pan take? Several pairs of rubber boots? Sufficient change of clothes? Hobo and Dutch Oven can be at home because, it is found in the muddy heathen to anyway no fire wood?

But then suddenly the dream a reality. In the week before the event, the temperatures dropped well below zero degrees and suddenly was in the Lüneburg Heath even snow!

dream and reality: Wintertipilager in freezing temperatures and snow
the evening of my arrival was very late and was the round of participants around the camp fire. In small groups on technical issues of camp life, talk shop of boat building as well as many private stories were exchanged. Eventually, well after midnight, it was the most participants, but so cold that they voluntarily retired to their tents heated. I had, however, I still look for a suitable campsite. The primary question is whether the slightly resilient floor beneath the snow just dry soil or mud but could be made, in the darkness no longer sufficient to determine. So I gave up a place to sleep on the floor and pulled me back in my dry hammock.

The fresh air of the sleeping under the stars for me is an incredibly wonderful gift. I sleep under these conditions in my warm sleeping bag mostly deep and long. Can disturb me no sound or even morning sunlight. So healthy this sleep may be, it was so unhealthy in this case, waking up half an hour before departure for paddling and to know that Ally had to be built nor urgent. So was dispensed that morning for coffee and freshly baked bread. Instead I built with Martin's expert assistance on the frosty Ally, tied him to the car, took my paddle and clothes could only be glad that I was just ready to become so, as the convoy slowly away from the bivouac site removed.
way I could after all the still hot coffee of the day before from my thermos and enjoy, there was a little block of Swiss chocolate and a can of dried Bananas.

the first time I went to Ally in a duo with a higher-powered, adult, bow thruster. The Thruster function We had been disabled due to lack of experience in the bow. For this "test drive" the Gerdau was downright predestined. The fast meandering meadow stream leaves a lot a funny hook, which is, of course, was my ambition, without touching the banks get through.

But Ally is a way which can be in such a situation easily steered. Even close, hake celled bypasses smaller jams and sweepers designed with a dreamy ease.

In Gerdau we took a short rest. The awaited restaurant had closed, unfortunately, so we improvised a little . Some were cooking her soup, and ate their sandwiches while I brought with me mostly resigned to my coffee.

's flap? have low bridges its special charm. With an ordinary Logjam's getting close!

overcome adventure! The joy is great

security - if it gets tight:
- first the solo boats
- finally I with

in and out - the most dangerous moment in Canoetouring in winter ...

"Sweeper" - low-hanging branches: a super common number!

Some surges and low bridges farther we had our exit to 16 clock reached at Holdenstedt.

After Ally was tied on my car roof, I had to leave something for the preparation of dinner and breakfast the next morning get. At half past six I reached the camp and immediately began a hole for the Dutch Oven. My fear was not small, when I saw that the forest soil was bone dry at this point, loose and slightly peaty. By means of an applied ice sheet and wood chips, the Haralt with his Fiskars hatchet from a block of wood was struck, the fire protection is sufficient enough. Haralt had just been joined straight from Hamburg to the meeting. Because he had not yet come to shop, invited I him to a dinner. Together we prepared the food, the roasted roast sharply, extinguished with the liquid of canned vegetables from the meat and added the vegetables and whole potatoes. Using the IKEA coal fireplace (kitchen appliances basket) we had enough in the meantime prepared coal to the pot trust left for some time alone.

Unfortunately I did out of sheer thought of the food verpeilt total, not that Peter Wolf Peuker documentation should be presented to the camp, but in a nearby business. Since the cooking time of our Interest was in conflict with this date, I decided to remain on the premises. I joined to Max and Karla, that I was able to talk super great. Both worked for me so mature that I could hardly imagine, are dealing with 18-year-old students in the school have to prepare. And by the way we set forth the content of Dutch Ovens.
such a tasty, tender but still crunchy roast I had to date not yet be able to taste! For Haralt of course also what was left. That night I was not particularly long. to Knowing me dry under the floor, I gave in this Night in my hammock and slept a full 10 hours in the best air.

This morning was something very special on the agenda: The NDR was planning to do a live broadcast from our warehouse. Unlike before, when transmission cars were hauled with antenna masts and generators came here only the journalist Thomas Stahlberg with his assistant, put intelligent questions, brought even more intelligent statements on its own, after which we knew at last, on which social deficits we have. Listen to the report on the best times to yourself: Stahlberg in Wintertipilager

While Mr. Stahlberg with Albert over the toilet in the tipi pole talked shop, and I sat Haralt already in his tipi at the breakfast table and enjoyed coffee and toasted bread with lots of delicious ingredients. Our conversation enriched himself a little later to Andreas (Few paddlers) contributions. The three of us enjoyed the quiet conversation and asked again each determine for itself that it is really incredible, through which people can meet in our sport and lifestyle. My departure still took a long time. Time and again there were people with whom I talked like and intense.

For me, this weekend was a typical weekend Canoe:
I could once again be among nice people, I move in total freedom, get some fresh air, there are a few challenges with the Canoe and totally unwind.

What more could I want?
